The M5 Stuart, formally known as Light Tank M5, was an American light tank used by the Allied forces during WWII. It had a crew of 4 (commander, gunner, driver, assistant driver) and a speed of 58 km/h (36 mph) on road. The tank had a main armament of a 37 mm Gun M6 and and a secondary armament of 3x .30 caliber Browning machine guns. The British and Commonwealth forces were the first to call it "Stuart" after American Civil War Confederate General J. E. B. Stuart. However, the Americans usually referred to the tank as "Light Tank M5".
