The Sherman Firefly was a tank used by the British and the Allies in WWII that was put into production in early 1944. It was based on the US M4 Sherman, but fitted with the British 17-pounder anti-tank gun as its main weapon. The M4 Firefly had a crew of 4 (Commander, gunner, loader/radio-operator, driver) and for secondary armament it had a 0.50 Browning M2 machine gun mounted on the turret and a coaxial .30 in (7.62 mm) Browning M1919 machine gun which was generally not mounted. Approximately 2200 units were built during the war and it performed well on the battlefield, with enough firepower to knockout Tigers and Panthers at long range, as well as tanks like the Panzer IVs and StuGs.
