The Ki-61 Hien, official name Kawasaki Ki-61 Hien (meaning "flying swallow" in Japanese), was a Japanese fighter aircraft used by the Imperial Japanese Army Air Force in WWII. It was first introduced in 1942 and was used in combat missions throughout the war. 3,078 aircraft of this type were built and they were used in combat service throughout the war. The Allies code name for the aircraft was "Tony".
