Careless Talk is a Countermeasure in Kards - The WWII CCG.

Background[]

Hist Careless talk

The Heinkel aircraft factory was known for using forced laborers. Germany, 1939.

Anti gossip campaigns were launched by all fighting parties in WWII. The aim was to discourage talking about sensitive material where it could possibly be overheard by spies. Careless talk did indeed have an impact on the Nazi Germany war effort, and perhaps from where they least expected. As an example, Poles were used as forced laborers across the continent of the Nazi Reich, which put them in a unique position to spy on their enemy. It is believed that 48 percent of all reports received by British secret services during the war had come from these sources. The reports included advanced warnings of Operation Barbarossa, Operation Edelweiss, the German Caucasus Campaign and first intelligence on the Holocaust.

Strategy[]

Since Carless Talk is a countermeasure it is important to know what cards your opponent may play. Soviet Union and Japan players often start with cheap blitz or otherwise insignificant small units like 15th Cavalry Regiment or 554th Rifle Regiment. While the other nations ( Germany, Britain, and the United States) will often play generally stronger first-play cards such as, the Panzer II-A, Swordfish Mk I, and M8 Greyhound, just to name a few. Further turns (2-5) will require a lot of guessing on what type of deck your enemy is playing and what they may deploy next.
