A barrage is a concentrated artillery bombardment dispersed over a wide area. At the Battle of Seelow Heights, the Red Army opened the road to Berlin in 1945 with what is described as the largest artillery bombardment in history. With over 9000 guns and rockets, the Red Army fired at the enemy along a front of almost 30 km.
