The 461st Rifle Regiment was a unit of the 142nd Rifle Division of the Red Army. The division was formed in 1939 and participated in the Winter War against Finland, but didn’t see much combat until 1944 during the Soviet Vybor-Petrozavodsk Offensive. In 1945 the division participated in the Vistula-Order Offensive against the Germans, and later in the East Pomeranian Offensive, where they managed to capture the town of Graudenz in Northern Poland. The division finished the war on the Baltic coast where it disbanded in the summer of 1945.
