The 1st Airorne may seem like a quality first play due to its low cost and high gain, but most decks will carry cheap, low damage-dealing orders (Bloody sickle, Dive Bombing) to immediately slay the 1st Airborne before it becomes a nuisance. Its low cost can also become a detriment, as cards that discard or destroy low cost cards can easily dispense of it no matter how powerful it becomes. In short, this is a powerful early-game card that shoudn't be played first, and one should never put all their eggs in this Airborne basket (good advice in general for any deck), lest they suffer ruination through the various cheap, easy means this card can easily be defeated by.

1st Airborne is a Infantry in Kards - The WWII CCG.

Background

Hist 1st AIRBORNE

Men of the 1st Parachute Brigade, Arnhem, 1944.

The 1st Parachute Brigade was part of the 1st Airborne Division of the British Army during WWII and participated in numerous operations and battles during the war. The first missions was in 1942, a parachute drop in France during Operation Biting, followed by a successful glider mission into Norway where they sabotaged Germany’s Heavy Water production. That same year the brigade was sent to North Africa where they fought as an independent unit, both as paratroopers and as normal infantry on the front line. This is where they earned their nickname the Red Devils. In 1943 the brigade participated in the Allied invasion of Sicily where they sustained heavy casualties in combat and were therefore held in reserves for the next couple of operations in Italy. In 1944 the brigade participated in the Battle of Arnhem as part of Operation Market Garden, and after heavy fighting and casualties the remaining members of the brigade were forced to surrender to the Axis forces. When the war ended they joined the 6th Airborne Division for security duties in Palestine.
